What do termites look like?

Depending on the species, termites can range anywhere between 1/8 of an inch to one inches long. Ants and termites are actually two very unique species with completely different biological and behavioral structures. Termites can range in color from brown, white and black depending on both their age and species. Like ants, termites have both antennae and wings which is what often leads to the confusion between the two. The main difference between them however is their wing structure and size. Using the image above, it is very clear that the termites have equal wing size and ants do not. Termites use their wings specifically for moving to new colonies and helping them grow. Once they are established they will shed their wings and go back to a more “familiar” look. Another differentiating factor between the two is their antennae. Termites have straight antennae, where ants have bent antennae. Flying termites have very poor eye sight, whereas workers and soldiers are actually completely blind.

How do I find pest control near me?

If you suspect that there might be flying termites (or ants) around your home. Your best bet is to contact a local termite exterminator. They can easily help diagnose and offer treatment solutions in a timely manor. The inspection is almost always free, but make sure that you are selecting the best pest control company to solve your problems. A professional exterminator will treat your home the proper way and make sure that your pest problems are behind you for good. Most professional exterminators near you will offer a money back guarantee as well. Just make sure that you do your research to keep your home safe.
